How did I escape the bombs of Raqqa?

Née à Raqqa en 1995, Rania a décidé de fuir sa ville natale en 2014 alors que cette dernière était entre les mains du groupe État Islamique. Elle s’installe alors à Kobané puis part pour la Turquie avant de revenir à Kobané lors de la libération de la ville. En 2016, Rania quitte la Syrie pour rejoindre l’Europe. En chemin, elle documente - avec l’aide du journaliste Anders Hammer - son périple, qui sera plus tard diffusé sous la forme d’un court-métrage via le média britannique The Guardian. Aujourd’hui, Rania est réfugiée en Autriche où elle a demandé l’asile politique.

Born in Raqqa in 1995, Rania decided to flee her hometown in 2014 which was at the time under control of the Islamic State group. She then moved to Kobane and left for Turkey before returning to Kobane during the liberation of the city. In 2016, Rania left Syria to go to Europe. She filmed every steps of her way with the help of journalist Anders Hammer. Her journey was later broadcasted as a short film on the British media The Guardian. Today, Rania is a refugee in Austria where she applied for political asylum.
